Text Box: Methamphetamine

Aka: Meth, Chalk, Crank, Crystal, Ice, Speed

Methamphetamine is an addictive stimulant that is closely related to amphetamine, but has longer lasting and more toxic effects on the central nervous system. Methamphetamine can be made in home-made laboratories using easily purchased materials such as drain cleaner, engine starter fluid, Hydrogen Peroxide, fertilizers and battery acid. The fumes from these chemicals are easily ignited and can emit a lethal gas when mixed. Methamphetamine is extremely addictive and due to the binge-and-crash nature of the drug, even first time use can lead to severe addictions. Similarly, with each use the body’s tolerance for the drug quickly builds, meaning that users must take more and more to achieve the same high.

Intoxicating Effects:
Increased heart rate
Increased mental alertness
